Some Thoughts On Safety Surfacing

Full compliance with playground safety guidelines and regulations protect YOU from liability as well as kids from falls.

KIDSAFE does not consider pea gravel or sand to be acceptable surfacing materials except as sub-surfaces for drainage underneath wood fiber or shredded rubber.

KIDSAFE highly recommends rubber swing mats under swings and slide exits for loose fill surfaces.

A Word About Maintenance For Your Safety Surface

It often seems as if maintenance is the lost area of discussion in all playground projects. There are too many times we have gotten the blank stare when we ask "Who will be responsible for maintaining your playground?" There is no such thing as a maintenance-free playground surface! To get the full lifetime of use from any surfacing product, maintenance is required. There are varied degrees of required maintenance from one type of surface to another, but all types have maintenance requirements.
